Yesterday was rife with travel. I woke up at 7am today. Of course, that's 10am EST. The most convenient part about playing any casino is the buffet. It's free (for us), it's all you can or need to eat, & it's adjacent to the hotel. Sometimes it's good... sometimes it's not so good. Lately I've been concerned with portion control. In the past I would make a couple small trips to the buffet line. Today I made one small trip. For some people, like myself, you have to be conscious of being full. I would normally eat until I couldn't eat any more. I just love food. Correction: I love good food.
I brought a few Christmas acquisitions on the road; one being the first season of "Heroes." In the spring of this year, just before the season finale of "Heroes," I caught the "Heroes" marathon on The Sci-Fi Channel. But, I started watching about 8 episodes in. I don't know how the story starts. I've been watching it in my hotel room today. It's pretty different. Usually something like this is not well embraced by the TV watching public. In this case, I'm very glad that it was (that means more seasons).
Also, in real life, the New England Patriots (the NFL team that I've been rooting for since '96) passed over one more speed bump on their quest for history. They beat the New York Football Giants (barely, by 3 points) tonight. They are the first NFL team to go 16-0 in the regular season. You probably already know this though. It's kind of a big deal.
We played a great, dynamic set tonight. It was very foreign but fun. In addition to my normal duties I had to play flute & keys tonight. I thought it went off rather well. Since there was one less player on stage, it was just 'that' much easier to hear & fall into the groove with the other 3 guys. It definitely wasn't the
wall of sound that we've been dealing with over the past few years. It was a more 'moment' band that played tonight. The improvisations were better & there was no where to hide. I dug it!
